Carnaval en España – vamos a celebrar!

It’s this time of the year again!

Some love it, others don’t, but in the end we all love to see people transforming into new creatures or characters by putting on crazy costumes !

Probably the most famous carnival parade can be seen in Rio de Janerio ! But not only Brazilians can celebrate it, the Spanish do a pretty good job as well!

Every city makes its’ own effort to celebrate this day, but if you decide to spend your Carnival in Spain you should keep the following cities in mind …

Let’s start with Tenerife, where it’s meant to be the biggest ‘pachanga loca’ en todo de Europa!

In Santa Cruz, a city located on the coast, you can see the extraordinary costume parade and go crazy at the open air parties named as ‘’Mogollones’’, which are held by locals 🙂

The most important part of the fiesta is the crowning of the Queen of Carnival!

If you prefer to stay on the mainland, Sitges is always a good idea! – Especially at this time of the year.

How to get there? You can take the RENFE from Barcelona which takes you to Sitges within 40 minutes.

What to expect: a spectacular parade with the brightest costumes you’ve ever seen and one of the best drag shows in Europe, which is held on the last day of the event.

On the southern coast of Spain you can enjoy the craziness of carnival in Cadiz!

This fiesta is mainly defined by its’ music. You can see live acts playing at any point in the crowded streets, plazas and open air venues!

As the people from Cadiz are said to have the best sense of humour in spain; the music reflects this during Carnival with a lot of satirical songs.

Moreover; you can see daily fireworks displays, a competition for satirical group songs at the Gran Teatro Falla and people dressed in extravagant costumes!

Chicos, I bet you don’t wanna miss this !
